AMES, Iowa – The shared use path along the west side of University Boulevard from U.S. Highway 30 to Oakwood Road will be closed beginning Monday, July 18. The closure is necessary to allow Alliant Energy to replace a high-pressure gas line along University Boulevard. The path will be closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to take three weeks. Pedestrians and bicyclists should use the Vet Met Trail as a detour during the closure.
The project is not anticipated to affect vehicle traffic on University Boulevard. However, motorists should exercise additional caution due to the presence of construction activity and equipment near the roadway.
