SoyLei was established in 2020 with the goal of commercializing green technologies developed at Iowa State University. These technologies make use of renewable resources, such as soybean oil, to substitute products in different industries. More specifically, SoyLei has developed a family of soybean oil-based additives that, when combined with an asphalt mix, reverse common aging effects and rejuvenate the materials.
In the asphalt industry, our products have been tested rigorously and have outperformed the competition in numerous locations across the U.S. and specifically in the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) performance trials. In 3+ years of accelerated testing at NCAT, the test control section, paved using the gold-standard petroleum-based material, started to show signs of surface cracking while SoyLei’s section is still pristine. Leaders of different state departments of transportation, such as Wisconsin, Alabama, North Carolina, and Minnesota, are aware of our successful trial. Additionally multiple demos around United States have been performed and are scheduled to be performed this year.
