The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student – User Experience Designer for John Deere located in Ames, Iowa, you will be:

  • Responsible for developing mock-ups, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate designs to product owners and web development teams.
  • Create and maintain project and overall system design artifacts.
  • Work with the ISU development team along with product teams to ensure that new features are implemented according to specifications.
  • Have effective task management for projects given from product teams and UX mentor.
  • This opportunity can be used as your design internship to fulfill the requirement at Iowa State University.

This position is not available to students on immigration visas

What Skills You Need

  • Design focus: Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science
  • Research focus: Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors (Industrial Engineering), Computer Science
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
  • Must be able to commute to work at the ISU Research Park (on the bus route)
  • Graduation date of May 2027 or later in undergrad or graduate school
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Work 8-15 hours/week during the academic year
  • Work up to 40 hours/week during the summer semesters and school breaks
  • Exposure to a minimum of one design tool: Adobe, Figma, Sketch, and InVision
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver clean and usable interfaces while applying visual brand guidelines
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and intrapersonal skills
