The Avionics Summer Engineering Project Program is our Elite Summer Program that has been around since 1995. Our “RC Linux” team creates project-specific Embedded Linux Distributions using standardized processes and tools, to allow for rapid development, easy collaboration, alignment with open source development methods and to enable product-line development of avionics equipment.
This year’s RC Linux SEPP project ” Hardware modeling of the next gen Connected Ecosystem router for DevSecOps virtual platforms” picks up from a previously developed prototype model and aims to build C-Based models that mimic the FPGA feature set. This will allow for rapid integration of new kernels against behavioral models, which is expected to reduce both development time and cost in the dynamic Connected Ecosystem environment. As part of this SEPP activity, we expect to create a demo to do a side-by-side comparison of data flows on real hardware versus the virtual platform.
• Participate in Agile Kanban process and meetings
• Participate in peer reviews of teammates’ source code
• Debug hardware and test setup issues
• Learn about hardware, common hardware failure modes, and effective test approaches
• Develop models that mimic FPGA behavior for Rockwell Collins hardware
Skills and attributes:
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with C
- Familiarity with Bash
- Basic knowledge as a user of Linux
- Basic networking experience
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Git
- Knows their way around Oscilloscopes and Multimeters
- Can read hardware schematics and datasheets
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
