The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student-UX Designer for John Deere Tech Works located in Ames, Iowa, you will be responsible for developing mock-ups, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate designs to product owners and development teams. In addition, you will:
- Create and maintain project and system design artifacts
- Work with the ISU development team, along with OMs product teams, to ensure that new features are implemented according to specifications
- Have effective task management for projects given from product teams and a UX mentor
- This opportunity can be used as your design internship to fulfill the requirement at Iowa State University
This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.
What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in one of the below; others may apply
- Design focus: Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science
- Research focus: Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors (Industrial Engineering), Computer Science
- Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
- Graduation date of May 2025 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Must be able to work 8-15 hours/week during the academic year
- Must be able to work up to 40 hours/week during the summer semesters and school breaks
- Must be able to commute to work at the ISU Research Park (on the bus route) on a weekly basis
- Exposure to a minimum of one design tool: Adobe, Figma, Sketch, and InVision
- Ability to deliver clean and usable interfaces while applying visual brand guidelines
- Eagerness to learn and collaborate
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and intrapersonal skills

NOTE: For Iowa State University Engineering students, this assignment will qualify for an ISU co-op position working 20 hours per week.
