We are currently seeking a Parent Seed Line Maintenance Head for the Global and North America Seeds Production Operations team. This role will be located in Slater or Ames, Iowa or Downers Grove, Illinois. As the Parent Seed Line Maintenance Head, you will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the function across all regions, including ultimate accountability for the delivery of an effective operational service, in line with pre-agreed objectives and functional governance and standards.
You will enhance the prosperity of farmers by:
  • Being accountable for strategic planning for the Parent Seed function globally
  • Aligning the investment plans with the Syngenta business growth strategy, new products, and new technology introductions (new traits)
  • Leading, developing, and continuously improving the strategic end to end regional and global production activities for Parent Seeds
  • Establish and execute regional and global strategies for Parent Seed Operations, ensuring alignment with Global Production and Supply Strategic Plan, X- Matrix and Syngenta’s overall business objectives, Geographic scope: 15 countries
  • In conjunction with regional and country teams, partner with the business, cross crops planning, and governance processes, to ensure business outcomes are optimized, taking into account, resources available
  • Develop and own the parent seed supply chain strategy, defining the application of production capacity and technology to meet business plans
  • Build the people capability at an individual, and organizational level to meet the combined challenges of competitive Cost of Goods and product quality, alongside an increasingly complex product offer, while ensuring robust succession and people development processes
  • Partner with Global Planning Lead, to define and implement a digital strategy for Parent Seed within the Production and Supply team, while leading transformation in support of digital tools and recommend business process changes
  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Agriculture or Business
  • Demonstrated experience in both Field Production and Plant Activities, or demonstrated capability to lead and manage in these two areas
  • Agronomic and technical seed production system knowledge
  • Ability to manage the complexity of multiple crops and species, hybrids and varieties, experimental pilots, and parent lines
  • Ability to oversee over 400 contractual relationships, including growers and vendors
  • Extensive global travel ~ 70%
Preferred Requirements
  • Agronomic and technical seed production system knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and knowledge of process and systems required to meet a defined result
  • Ability to work in an agile environment to adjust to quickly changing customer and business needs
  • Lean/Six Sigma or OpEx experience and Productivity continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated experience at driving change and building new culture and teams
