McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for MLT, Phlebotomist or CMA for its South Ames Family Medicine department. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.

Responsibilities include: collecting and receiving specimens to be tested. Prepares and dispatches specimens for testing.  Performs receptionist, clerical and/or other non-technical duties as needed, collects blood samples by venipuncture, heel stick and finger stick, obtains urine and other specimens from patients, performs receptionist and other clerical duties as needed, stocks and maintains supplies in work areas, helps to keep work area clean, attends required meetings and participates on committee as requested, performs related work as required.  On the job training.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or HiSET.
  • Graduate from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
  • Formal training and/or experience in phlebotomy
  • Associate degree in medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and/or successful completion of a recognized course of study in Clinical Laboratory Technology.

Certification/License

  • Prefer Certification in Phlebotomy.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers
  • Mandatory Reporting of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse
  • Certification, or eligibility from certification, as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.
