Description
McFarland Clinic is currently accepting application for Maintenance Technician II for its Ames office. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviews daily work requests and work orders on a computer maintenance management system to determine special needs and problems needing to be addressed.
- Completes scheduled preventative maintenance on various types of equipment. Also performs building maintenance such as minor repairs, general remodeling and improvements as needed or assigned.
- Assists Facilities Management in decision-making regarding building remodeling, HVAC systems update, new equipment acquisition, etc.
- Repairs and moves desks, file cabinets, chairs and other furniture and fixtures.
- Participates in new construction/remodeling efforts. Reviews and comprehends blueprints and diagrams to ascertain layout, location and specification of electrical/mechanical items to be installed. Estimates quantities of materials needed.
- Performs all trade skills such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, as directed by supervisor or other members of Facilities Management.
- Inspects facilities and equipment to determine installation, maintenance, and repair needs. Maintains inventory of spare parts and maintenance equipment.
- Installs and repairs floor and wall coverings. Assists with wall board repair, patching, plastering, painting, or concrete work as needed.
- Keeps supervisor of Facilities Management informed of any unsafe conditions and takes immediate action to address the issue.
- Makes informed recommendations about new equipment.
- Acts as lead to General Maintenance Worker and Maintenance Technician I staff in supervisor’s absence.
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or HiSET
- Trade or vocational school diploma with courses in blueprint reading, electricity.
Days: Floating shifts Monday-Friday. On call rotation including a Saturday every 6 to 7 weeks
Hours: Floating shift ranging from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
Experience
- Mechanical and electrical trouble diagnostic trouble shooting.
- Needs to be able to read construction drawings and be able to work from these documents for troubleshooting problems.
- Three years of previous experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and HV/AC.
