Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience.
Experience in not-for-profit accounting
Experience in audit preparation.
Experience in real estate accounting.
Experience with financial reporting.
Experience effectively using accounting software systems.
Knowledge of governmental/university fund accounting standards.
Knowledge of the University accounting, payroll, purchasing, and foundation systems.
Ability to prepare and present charts and graphs of financial information.

Purpose and Function of the Position
The Accountant will support all aspects of accounting and financial administration, budget preparation and management, financial forecasting and analysis for the Park as well as our annual audit preparation. This position will be in charge of tenant lease invoicing, cost allocation, and financial reporting to a variety of stakeholders within and outside the university and assist with financial administration and grant management of subsidiaries and other units. This position is complex in scope and requires working with accounting and property management software. The Accountant will possess exceptional customer service skills, strong problem solving skills, and excellent organizational and analytical skills. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently and efficiently, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast paced, team oriented atmosphere.
Under limited administrative direction, performs professional accounting activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of accounting principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards, current laws, and University policy. Works independently under broad direction solving complex technical and managerial problems.
Example of Duties:
- Ensures that all daily accounting tasks are completed, including payables, receivables, and management of multiple accounts both within the University and at private banks.
- Researches, analyzes, and uses independent judgment in a variety of daily and non-routine decisions affecting assigned function.
- Prepares and/or directs the preparation of specialized or highly complex financial reports, statements, surveys, or analyses for management.
- Advises administrative management regarding procedures concerning expenditures and other accounting practices.
- Recommends alternatives to management when accounting data indicates trends or situations requiring action to be taken beyond the scope of responsibilities.
- Researches and evaluates new or changed accounting principles and practices.
The University is in the process of implementing a new classification and compensation structure. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2020. Any P&S employee hired through this posting may be assigned a new title and associated pay grade upon the employment start date (and after the initial offer), commensurate with qualifications required for the position. The duties and responsibilities of the posted position, in addition to compensation offered, will not be affected by this process.
