Job Description

As a Part Time Student - Crop Care Tech Development for John Deere Crop Care located in Ames, IA, you will:
Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
Propose or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance.
Create design concepts in CAD (Creo, ProE) or create software to support concepts using JavaScript.
Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation. (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)
Test design concepts in lab tests or in field environments on prototype equipment
Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses
Assess lab and field event data for impact to product reliability

What Skills You Need
Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, others may apply
Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited University
Graduation date of Spring 2029 or later
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
Must be able to commute to the work location daily
15 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
40 hours/week during the summer
Strong mechanical aptitude
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
3D Modeling Experience (Creo Parametric - preferred, SolidWorks) or software development experience using JavaScript

What Makes You Standout
Experience on FIRST Robotics Team, developing and demonstrating your engineering skills
Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers)
Experience in product engineering (product design, build & product testing)
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Tableau or PowerBI
