Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student Software Engineer at John Deere in Ames, IA, you will gain expertise in big data, cloud technologies, and front-end development, using these skills to build scalable Data & Analytics solutions. In addition, you will: 
Develop and enhance high-volume data processes and new functionality/code.  
Support and monitor daily ETL processes.  
Contribute to discussions on engineering direction, technical debt evaluation, and prioritization.  
Improve data quality in large-scale analytic environments.  
Resolve complex technical issues in Big Data and analytics technologies.  
Address defects and engineering challenges.  
Build strategic relationships with source data, Data & Analytics, and business analytics teams.  
Explore and develop AI solutions for our products.  
Embrace an API-first mindset

What Skills You Need
Available to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours per week in the summer.
Must be able to commute to Ames, Iowa, as needed year-round (relocation assistance not provided).
Familiarity with Data Engineering, ETL, Data Warehousing, or data movement applications.
Experience in designing, developing, testing, and integrating complex software using React, Node, Python, or SQL.
Exposure to an Agile/Scrum team environment 
Must be a full-time student at a local accredited college/university.
Expected graduation date of May 2027 or later.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 
 

What Makes You Standout
Experience with Data Warehouse and Data Lake technologies, including Big Data tools like Databricks, Spark, Microfrontend, APIs, React, and AWS S3.
Familiarity with cloud development on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of User Experience principles.
Proficiency in BI reporting tools like Tableau or Power BI
