Job Summary
In addition to performing the duties of a Journeyman Substation Electrician, employees in this classification
shall possess the ability to:
What you will do
- Utilize predictive maintenance technologies and equipment (e.g. vibration analyzer, ultrasonic fault
detector) to gather data and determine the operating condition of equipment.
- Integrate data from various technologies to identify potential equipment problems and help prioritize
necessary maintenance.
- Operate infrared scanning equipment to perform maintenance and evaluate findings.
- Perform detailed analysis of the results of dissolved gas analyses performed by an outside vendor.
- Possess knowledge regarding use of a PC and systems (e.g. Windows 95, GroupWise, Excel, Word, Access,
and etc.).
- Evaluate new technologies for potential use on equipment in predictive maintenance program.
- Present to internal and external organizations results from the analyses, cost savings by using
predictive maintenance to identify equipment maintenance needs, etc.
- Perform other duties that are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Required Experience
- 2 years formal education in electrical and electronic theory and fundamentals equivalent to
completion of CIE Course 1B and 4 years technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and
repair of metering, electrical and electronic plant and substation electrical equipment.
- Related training through an accredited electrical apprenticeship program may be substituted for the
2 years formal education, as determined by the JATC.
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Obtain and maintain a valid CDL.
