Edge Technologies, Inc. was established in 1987 to commercialize promising technology emanating from research conducted at Iowa State University. Five Iowa-based corporations (The Principal Financial Group, Midwest Resources, The Ruan Companies, Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, and Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.) and the Iowa State University Research Foundation provided the initial capital to launch the first commercial enterprise, ETREMA Products, Inc. Edge Technologies continues to evaluate other promising technologies for commercialization.
