Verdant Biosciences is developing two novel classes of plant metabolic regulators (PMR's) that produce superior crop yields and plant performance. Significantly, additional increases occur in valuable plant components such as carotenoids, oils, pharmaceutical alkaloids, and other materials used in industrial applications. With a unique mode of action, the PMRs modulate specific metabolic pathways causing the plant to use a larger part of its yield potential while maintaining balanced growth. They are highly active with application rates as low as 0.1 parts per million—the equivalent of 1.0 ounce mixed in 7800 gallons of water. In addition, maturation is accelerated and rooting, drought and insect resistance are improved. The PMRs can be efficiently integrated with other agricultural inputs and genetic technologies. Application of the PMRs can be accomplished by seed treatment, foliar application or in some cases root dip on transplant. Two compounds induce certain resistance to sucking and chewing insects.
