ISU Research Park tenant company TMC Transportation provided its Ames office-based interns many opportunities to learn, grow and have a great time this summer. The interns worked on challenging projects that further honed their skills and had the chance to participate in a number of real-world experiences and fun extracurricular activities. One such activity was on July 28, TMC’s Ames interns had the opportunity to attend the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 presented by The Rasmussen Group at Iowa Speedway, in Newton, IA. Tickets for the students and employees, as well as for food and entertainment, were provided by TMC.

Grant Chaney, one of the TMC interns who attended the NASCAR race, had a lot of great things to say when asked about his summer job. “I really enjoy my time here at TMC as a Logistics Intern. Every day brings about a new challenge and has allowed me to expand my knowledge of transportation. I’ve gotten the experience to engage with different partner carriers and clients of our company. TMC has given me the opportunities that not a lot of second-year college students can say they’ve experienced. I’m truly looking forward to improving every day and seeing what all I can accomplish.”

Juan Sandoval-Duran, another TMC intern who attended the NASCAR race with his family said, “TMC has given me many opportunities here, such as giving me the chance to experience my first NASCAR race.” Sandoval-Duran also enjoyed the fun challenges that kept him going from day to day, as well as the great atmosphere that was created for the interns in the TMC office.
