ISIS Mission: To support the growth and successful introduction of technology-related start-up businesses into the Iowa business community.

The Iowa State Innovation System (ISIS) reflects Iowa State's commitment to leadership in economic development and technology transfer and is an integral part of the university's sophisticated research network. The ISIS program is a technology incubator, which identifies technology-based concepts and businesses at early stages of development and provides an environment for their growth.

To date, ISIS has supported over 80 start-up companies with its various partnerships, programs, and services. Its most significant partnerships are with the ISU Business Development Center- SBDC and the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship. These centers provide business assistance and education to start-up and existing firms. The ISU Business Development Center provides a special emphasis on tenant companies within ISIS and the Research Park while the Pappajohn Center reaches out to entrepreneurs and small companies.

ISIS Selection Criteria

• Is an Iowa Company formed under Iowa law
• Is in the pre-venture capital stage of development
• Has potential for growth and development as an Iowa company
• Ability to pay for ISIS services at the rates required
• Existence of a plan for the first several months of operations
• Is based on a technology
• Is related to ISU research and/or research services
