SEPP Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2020)

We are searching for a SEPP (Summer Engineering Project Program) internto join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in the summer of 2020. Employing some of the most talented, dedicated people on the planet is not by chance. People from all over the globe choose Collins Aerospace as the place to build a rewarding career, while helping create and deliver communications, integration, and engineering solutions that our global customers demand so that our world keeps moving and stays connected. It’s an exciting time to become a part of our team. Join us and discover how high your career can soar at Collins Aerospace.

The SEPP program is a legacy Rockwell Collins program that was established in 1995 with the intention of supporting the company’s commitment to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. SEPP interns are recruited into this elite internship program from various US universities and recruiting conferences to work side-by-side with experienced technical experts while directly impacting our business.

Our “RC Linux” team creates project-specific Embedded Linux Distributions using standardized processes and tools, to allow for rapid development, easy collaboration, alignment with open source development methods and to enable product-line development of avionics equipment. We build and support Qualification Test Software (QTS) and a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which tests out all subsystems on our hardware by using embedded Test Software (ETS). Currently, the Qual GUI lets users select and start tests, but requires inspection to find out if tests have failed.

In this SEPP project, you would use the current Qual GUI software and design a mode which can run on a system with no graphics and return a pass/fail output, and become part of our automated Continuous Integration process.
