Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a software technical summer intern (May 2020 – August 2020) in our Government Systems Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Our flight manager applications provide global airspace access and the ability to execute missions throughout the world for a variety of domestic and international military aircraft.

Job Responsibilities

This position involves development and integration of embedded Flight Management System (FMS) software for military avionics systems.  Specific software functional areas include flight planning, guidance, user interface, sensor control and mission planning. Selected candidate will perform software engineering tasks including requirements analysis, design, code, test and software integration.  Ideal candidate should have good communication skills, the ability to learn new concepts quickly and effectively, and possess good interpersonal and team skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Classroom experience with Ada, C, C++ or other high-order language.
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline
  • US Citizenship or Green Card Holder

  • Time management skills – ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
  • Self-Motivate – take personal ownership of tasks and responsibilities and ask good questions
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
