Job Description:
Vertex Software is actively seeking a Director of Sales Operations with a proven track record of driving sales team productivity and territory alignment, savvy in sales reporting and data analysis, and a strong industry understanding and how to compete within the space. This individual will be responsible for compensation plans, account review, and territory rationalization within our dynamic and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review accounts to determine in-market and out-of-market opportunities
  • Work with Product Marketing to implement market segmentation and account ranking/scoring in new and existing markets/use cases
  • Partner with Sales Enablement and Marketing to ensure data accuracy and integrity in Salesforce
  • Work with Sales to establish robust rules of engagement to govern sales processes to avoid potential friction within Sales and Customer Success
  • Manage sales planning activities including quota/commission structure and territory mapping/assignment
  • Work with Product Marketing on pricing/packaging, pricing promotions, bundles and new product rollout with Sales
  • Establish approval processes around discounting
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing to implement scalable, repeatable, data driven processes based on industry best practices
  • Facilitate successful implementation and adoption of new processes within the sales organization
  • Foster an organization of continuous process improvement
  • Work with Sales to review and identify key improvement areas in the full sales cycle including handoff between Marketing to Sales and BDMs to RAMs
  • Lead Sales Enablement with the focus on compressing new hire ramp time, improving overall sales productivity, and ensuring sales process consistency
  • Partner with Finance to design, implement, and manage the sales forecasting process to provide an accurate prediction into future revenue performance
  • Develop dashboards and reports leveraging existing technologies such as Salesforce and Marketo to ensure forecasting and reporting efforts are appropriately integrated with other planning processes within the company
  • Work with Sales, Finance, and Legal to design sales quota and compensation incentive programs, and ongoing governance, that tie to company objectives, motivate our sales team to sell, and rewards them for doing so
Qualifications Needed:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in Sales Operations, Business Operations & Strategy, or similar capacity for a SaaS company
  • Experience designing compensation plans and territory alignment
  • Experience presenting to executives and customers a plus
  • Experience interacting and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and provide analytical support
  • Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities
