ANNOUNCING THE 2010PAPPAJOHN NEW VENTURE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION

NOTE: Must submit intent to compete form by December 1st (online form - takes 20 seconds). Also note free help sessions starting in November. Business plans due January 28, 2010.
COMPETITION DESCRIPTION: Sponsored by John Pappajohn and Equity Dynamics Inc., the Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition is intended for Iowa college and university students with an interest in starting their own business. Plans wil be judged based on a) content and b) viability. Three (3) seed grants in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded to the top three business plans submitted and presented in the competition.
TIMELINE:
December 1, 2009 -- Intent to Compete Form Due (submit online)
January 28, 2010 -- Application and Business Plan Due (3 printed copies)
February 1-5, 2010 -- Round 1 Judging - Regional Competition* (3 - $100 winners)
February 26, 2010 -- Round 2 Judging - Final Competition ** (3 - $5,000 winners)
* Regional Competitions held at Iowa State, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, NIACC, and Drake University
** Final competition (up to 3 winners from each regional competition) held at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Iowa Conference, Mason City, Iowa

FREE HELP SESSIONS
Center staff will hold three informational help sessions. Come for guidance on writing a business plan or to learn more about competing in this competition. Help Sessions will be held:
Friday, November 13, 2009 - 3:30-5:00 pm - Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship
Friday, December 4, 2009 - 3:30-5:00 pm - Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship
Friday, January 15, 2009 - 3:30-5:00 pm - Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship
