Cactus Jack will be talking in person On January 26, 2010 in Gerdin Auditorium, Room 1148 from 5:00 - 6:30.

Having attained recent celebrity status on ABC's investor-entrepreneur show "SHARK TANK", Ames entrepreneur "Cactus Jack" is marketing his newest product, the BODYJAC.  "Cactus Jack" Barringer is one of the most engaging entrepreneurs you'll ever here in the classroom, so don't miss this fun event that is open to students, faculty, and staff all across campus.

Cactus Jack'sWho is Cactus Jack?

He was born Jack Barringer, but his father branded him "Cactus Jack" when he was just five years old. If you've met Cactus or seen him on TV, it's clear that his nickname hits the nail on the head. Acting like PT Barnum and looking like a cross between Roy Rogers and Grizzly Adams, Cactus Jack has spent a lifetime taking the road less traveled.

Cactus Jack brags that he graduated high school second in his class, but with his dare to be different flare it was second from last. After high school he realized how little he knew, and developed a craving for knowledge and an obsession for self-improvement. If there is a self-improvement, motivational or sales course out there, you can bet that Cactus Jack knows about it. He even went so far as to become one of the top salesmen for Earl Nightingale's programs.

Cactus Jack is proud of his "One-Shot" products, but his real genius is his knack for marketing. Jack has been a regular on the QVC shopping network, where he has sold millions of dollars worth of his products. He is also a popular speaker, giving seminars on motivation, success, and marketing to a broad range of audiences including university marketing classes, corporations, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). As Jack puts it: "My ball game is taking a product and breathing life into it."

Success means more to Jack than just making money - it means being happy. And his "It ain't done till it's overdone" philosophy is as true in his personal life as it is in his business dealings. He has plenty of hobbies that fit his flamboyant lifestyle, and his family is as "unique" as he is. So there you have it, Cactus Jack in a nutshell. Who knows? If you can avoid the dream thieves like Cactus Jack, and put yourself out there, you just might find a way to be as successful and happy as he surely is.
