AMES, Iowa (August 25, 2017) - On September 19, 2017, KinoSol SBC, a Minnesota Specific Benefit Corporation, with an Ames-Iowa office, will be awarded $10,000 for their social entrepreneurial efforts.
This award, the Global Citizen Accelerator Award, will be presented at Cadillac House in New York City by Global Citizen. Global Citizen is a social action platform for a global generation wanting to solve the world’s biggest challenges.
The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and will consist of opening remarks, remarks, viewing of a video about KinoSol, and a musical performance by Andra Day.
Day looks forward to the event, saying, “Honoring leaders who are taking action to make the world a better place and ensuring no one goes hungry is an essential part of building a sustainable future.”
Three events similar to this will be held as a part of the Global Citizen & Cadillac Concert Series.
Other social entrepreneurs to be recognized include David Auerbach, founder of Sanergy, a sustainable sanitation company which creates healthier Kenyan communities and job opportunities, and John Nesbit, co-founder of Medic Mobile, which enables health workers to reach rural patients through mobile technology.
KinoSol’s team is comprised of Iowa State University students and alums. Its mission is to end food waste, sustainably. KinoSol launched in September 2014, and began delivering its first product to regions worldwide in January 2017. KinoSol’s first product is the Orenda, a solar-powered food dehydrator with a storage component, designed to help families in developing regions to preserve additional food and nutrients.
